School of Kingfish
West Whangaparapara Harbour, Great Barrier Island
Depth Range: 5-22m
Rocks are typical steep pinnacles with lots of invertebrates under the kelp. Usually schools of blue maomao, kahawai and trevally near the top. Cracks are home to crayfish and a few yellow moray eels. Nice sponge life from 15m and a few pink maomao and butterfly perch. Kingfish common in summer.
