Cooks Turban Shell
1km northeast of Nukutaunga Island, Cavalli Islands, NORTHLAND
Depth: 8-40m
One of the top dives in Northland. Blue water, big fish, almost anything could swim past and often does. Schools of trevally, maomao and kingfish. The walls are covered with colourful sponges, ascidians and hydroids. Jason nudibranchs graze on the hydroids. Occasional crayfish in the cracks and fissures, along with morays and banded coral shrimps.
